What are Chronic Non-Healing Wounds?
These are wounds that have not shown any sign of healing in 2 to 4 weeks. Such wounds are often associated with inadequate blood flow to a wound site and occur frequently among people with diabetes, venous insuffiency (a condition caused by poorly functioning veins) or pressure ulcers resulting from immobilization.

Mercy Wound Care Centers
Mercy Wound Care is dedicated to caring for people with chronic, non-healing wounds. Our hospital-based outpatient facilities utilize an interdisciplinary approach, with physicians and nurses providing treatment and services and coordinating the plan of care. The center has an impressive healing rate of over 90% – which exceeds the national benchmark.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
HBO Therapy places the body under increased atmospheric pressure and allows the patient to breath 100% oxygen. Through clinical research, HBO has been shown to increase the amount of oxygen circulating through the patient’s tissues. This effect increases the blood supply, reduces bacteria and provides nutrients to the wounded area, thereby promoting healing. Wounds that may benefit from HBO therapy include: 

• complicated surgical wounds
• diabetic wounds
• bone infections
• wounds resulting from local trauma
• radiation injury to bone or soft tissue
• burns
