Hip & Knee Surgery
You Don't Have to Go It Alone
 When it comes to approaching joint replacement, we believe in the effectiveness of our unique patient team atmosphere. Throughout the process, we place you with a group of fellow joint replacement patients who both understand and share your experience - before and after surgery.
Recovery In as Little as Three Days!
Our hip and joint healthcare experts are committed to making sure our patients progress and recover at a pace that's right for them. It's a testament to the dedication of our specialists that many of our patients can leave Mercy's Hip & Knee Orthopaedic Institute in as little as three days after surgery!
Orientation
First, you'll meet with staff for an important and informative orientation session. You'll learn about the details of your surgery and recovery and complete your pre-admission testing. You'll also get a chance to meet other joint replacement candidates who will be undergoing an experience very similar to yours.
Day One
Your surgery will take place on a Monday or Tuesday anytime between 7:30 a.m. and early afternoon.
Day Two
Recuperate in peace, under the care of healthcare professionals who specialize in working with orthopaedic surgery patients.
Day Three to Five
Most patients are healthy enough to leave the Hip & Knee Orthopaedic Institute at Mercy Hospital on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday (depending on the day of your procedure).
If you're not quite ready to go home, however, Mercy Hospital's Skilled Nursing Facility will provide you with the extra time and care, including additional rehabilitation that can help smooth your transition home.
